Youth Year Concluding Programme in Johnsonpet: On 28.06.11 Fr. Mariasusai, Parish Priest of Johnsonpet, arranged the special programme as the concluding function of the year of Youth. Fr. Stephen Souruban and Bro. Asirvatham coordinated the programme well. Fr. Director gave wishes and guidelines for the future.
Youth Mass in Alagapuram: On 03.07.11 Fr. Charles organized the thanksgiving Mass for the year of youth and Fr. Director celebrated the mass with the youth and the people. The youth actively participated in the mass and people prayed for them in a special way.
Special Formation to the Teens: The life challenges of the teen agers are emerging fast and the people who are serving in the field of students and the youth should start some special events which can give care for them. With this idea, we have chosen IX std students alone for the special formation for three years in St. Mary’s Hr.Sec.School, Salem. The total 500 students were divided into 7 groups and they were given first sharing on “Who am I? / Personality”. At the end of 1st round, on 20.07.11 we conducted the sum up programme of the particular topic at Epiphany Centre to all the IX std. students. Mr. Stephen Bernard, Benedict and Fr. Director joined together and organize this formation programme. I appreciate Sr. Seeli, HM, for her special concern for the teens.
YSM Visits, Seminar & G.B. Meet: In this academic year 2011-2012, we have started to give more concentration on YSM students in the Schools. With the help of Bro. Albert, Regent, we visited more than 25 Schools and inaugurated YSM movement and joined number of new members. On 16.07.11 we conducted the special awareness seminar on “Climate Change” to all the leaders of YSM in Salem Diocese at Epiphany Centre. Nearly 350 students from 27 Schools participated in it actively. Mr. Mathew, former Youth Co-ordinator, gave a clear idea about Climate Change and its future. The students were really taken up well and they decided to do some awareness programme in all the Schools through YSM. I thank all the Heads of the Institutions and the teachers who are in-charge of YSM for the best co-operation this time. The year plan was explained by Fr. Director and the leaders were elected in it.
Youth Volunteers Tour: On 17.07.11 all the volunteers, who worked for the Diocesan Youth Convention in May 2011, were taken to Kerela on a pilgrimage. 28 members visited the Tomb of St. Alphonsa and celebrated thanksgiving Mass for the year of youth. In the evening we visited the Cathedral and Basilica at Ernakulam.
