| The Secretaries meeting was held on 9th and 10th June 2010 at Trichy. In that meeting the New Method of Teaching and New Syllabus for Marriage Preparation Course at National Level was introduced. |

| ANBIAM COMMISSION |
The Secretaries meeting was held on 22nd June 2010 at Trichy. They discussed the future plan of the Anbiyam for the 2011 and they insisted that Anbiyam should be started in all the Parishes including substations within the year of 2010. National Survey was taken on Anbiyam. |

| Pastoral Priority of the Diocese of Salem for the next two years (July 2010 -2012) will be “Integral Renewal of Catholics Through Anbiyam”. |

| The Salem Diocesan Anbiya Service Team had a meeting on 16th June 2010. The service team decided to visit all the parishes in one Vicariate in each month and renew the Anbiyams in all the parishes of Salem Diocese within the stipulated time. In the Month of July, we plan to visit Namakkal Vicariate. May I request all the Parish Priests to make arrangements in your parishes on the dates I have given to you with your consent to visit Anbiyams in your parish. |

| SC/ST COMMISSION |
| The NCDC, CBCI and NCCI has arranged for One day Dharna before the Parliament On 21st July 2010. Thousands of Dalit Christians and Dalit Muslims from all over the country will be marching to Jantar Mantar and sitting for a day long Dharna to express the urgency and gravity of the just demand of Christians and Muslims of Scheduled Caste Origin for Scheduled Caste(SC) rights. They will demand to table the Report of the National Commission for Religious and Linguistic Minorities in the Parliament with Action Taken Report and implement its recommendations. They will demand to give appropriate answer to the query of the Supreme Court to the Writ Petitions demanding the deletion of the unjust para 3 of the constitution Scheduled Castes Order 1950 to extend Scheduled Caste Status to Christians and Muslims of Scheduled Caste Origin. |

| The department of Minorities welfare and Tamil Nadu Minorities Economic Development Corporation has announced the Central Government pre-metric scholarship to minority students studying from 1st to X std. Since the students in Tamil medium schools gets State Government’s Backward Class Scholarships, the present scholarships are restricted to VI to X students of Matriculations schools. Applications are available with the principals of the Matriculations schools. Filled applications are to be submited to Principals of Matriculation Schools. The Principals will submit the applications after the scrutiny to the Minority welfare officer at the Collectorate Salem and Namakkal respectively. |

| YOUTH COMMISSION |
- Special Seminar to Junior Sisters: On 02,03.06.10 for 2 days, Fr. Director led the seminar on “Building up the Community Life” for SMMI sisters who are preparing for the final vow at Yercaud.
- Salem Diocesan Youth Year Inauguration: On 08.06.10 the Bishop of Salem, with all the Clergy, Religious, Laity of Salem Diocese, concluded the Year of Priests and inaugurated the Year of Youth at Cathedral Church.
- Regional Level Youth Year Inauguration: On 20.06.10 the year of youth was inaugurated in Tamilnadu Regional Level at Madurai. Nearly 30 youth from our diocese participated in it.
- Youth Year Inauguration in Salem Diocese: On 27.06.10 all the youth will be gathered at Epiphany Centre and the Bishop of Salem will inaugurate the year of youth. The Clergy has encouraged and accepted the idea of having Vicariate Directors for the youth. The following Priests are responsible for the Youth Activities in the Vicariates: Frs. Innasimuthu, Benjamin, Arul Sundar, Jeyaseelan, A. Arokiasamy, Gopi Emmanuel, Maryian Austey, Peter John Paul.
- Leaders’ Seminar at L.F.H.S.S.: Fr. Director was asked to conduct seminar on Leadership to the leaders of all the classes in L.F.H.S.S. on 12.06.10.
- Youth Mass at Chennai: Fr. Director was invited to celebrate a special mass for the youth at Pallavaram Church, Chennai. The youth of the parish made the day very meaningful and successful during the mass (on 11.06.10).
- 4th Integral Life Training Programme: On 25, 26 June 2010 the youth were given a seminar on “Sexual Morality”. It was a great awareness and beneficial to the youth for their better family life in future.

- Mind-Tuning Seminar to Teachers: Fr. Director conducts special motivation seminar to the teachers wherever he is invited. Thus, he has conducted it at Cluny St.Joseph’s matric. School-Tindivanam (28.05.10), Holy Angels Matric.School-Tiruchengode (31.05.10), Infant Jesus Matric.School-Tirupur (01.06.10) and Cluny Matric.School-Katpadi (23.06.10).
- Sound & light programme on st. Antony: On 12.06.10 the Epiphany Cultural Team gave a superb programme on the life of St. Antony at Boothalur, Kovai. The spectators were taken up by the programme.

| CHARISMATIC RENEWAL COMMISSION |
- Service Team & Consultative Team Special Meeting: The Salem Diocesan Charismatic Renewal Service Team totally 25 people joined together and organized a night prayer and day sharing for the better understanding among the teammates. Then, we planned for the future Charismatic programmes. I appreciate all the members who participated in it. It was conducted at Balmadis Estate at Yercaud. We thank Rev. Fr. Joseph Paul, Manager, who provided everything free for the meeting.
- TNBC Charismatic Meet: On 16.06.10 Fr. Director attended the meeting for Tamilnadu Charismatic Renewal Commission at Emmaus Spiritual Centre, Viulpuram.
- Full Night Prayer & Fasting Prayer: On 12.06.10 full night prayer was conducted in Epiphany Centre. On 27.06.10 fasting prayer was held at Epiphany Centre.

- TNBC Bible Commission: Fr. Director was present in this Tamilnadu Biblical Commission meeting. Some of the practical plans were proposed for the year of Youth.

| THIRUCHENGODE VICARIATE |
| S.P.B. Colony: The Renovated Church at Thokkavadi in SPB Colony Parish was blessed by our Bishop on 29.05.2010. The church, built 58 years ago by the French Missionaries, was completely renovated with new roof, new marble flooring and tiled walls, by the cooperation of the local people. This work, carried out by the great enthusiasm and cooperation of the local people bears witness to their faith in Christ. |

| The newly formed Holy trinity Conference of the Vincent De Paul at SPB Colony parish had their inaugural Mass and celebration. They pledged to associate with the lowly and came forward to provide school Uniforms and Notebooks to the poor children. They plan to help the poor in all possible ways in the future. |

| SALEM SOCIAL SERVICE SOCIETY – JUNE 2010 |
| Salem Social Service Society continued its developmental initiatives for the all round development of the Poor and Marginalized in Salem and Namakkal districts through its different projects. |

| 1. New Thrust Project: |
| |
With a view to promote formal education of the dropout children, the Community Based Organization of Salem Union identified 16 such children and re-schooled them in 5th to 11th classes respectively.
Six SHGs have been enabled to get Rs. 360000 as Revolving Fund from bank and the members of the SHGs used it for taking up IGPs such as Coir making, Silver Chain-making, running Mini hotel, Fancy store and Sale of Rice flour.
In Attur Union, 2 poor girls of Sakthi SHG were helped get Rs. 20000 each for Marriage assistance; Also, the members were guided to get Rs. 150000 as bank loan for taking up Rice and Vegetable businesses. The members of SHGs Amman of Manjini, Neelakuyil of Mullaivadi, and Rojavanam were facilitated to get Rs. 620000 for Goat rearing, Cloth business, and to run Shoe mart, Tiffin centre and Fancy store.
In Omalur Union, Thamarai SHG got Rs. 400000 for IGP purpose by the guidance of our Animator. The SHG members undertake Goat rearing, Tailoring and Printing Press. A training was conducted on Natural Farming for the Marginal and Small farmers.
In Gangavalli Union, New CBO has been formed, SHGs – Water Lilly, and Manjal were guided to get Rs. 200000 as bank loan for IGP purpose. In Thalaivasal union, the members of SHGs – Desiyageetham, Sri Vengaliappan were enabled to get Rs. 120000 for IGP purpose. Thirty women participated in the Vocational Orientation training conducted by District Industrial Centre and got motivation.
In Namakkal Union, a new SHG – Uthayam has been formed. Two members of Dyana Oli were guided to apply for Houses under Minority’s scheme.
In Rasipuram Union, the members of the SHGs-Rose and Malli were guided to get Rs. 240000for taking up weaving. Thangam - a new SHG has been formed. The member of Annai Theresa, Dayana and Vairam Women SHGs and Bharathiar Men SHG were guided to get Rs. 375000 for IGP purpose.
In Vennandur Union, due to the efforts of the leaders of the SHGs – Thenral and Mullai, 200 m long Tar road has been laid. The members of SHGs – Surya Gandhi and Sevvandi were guided to get Rs. 80000 under Vazhndu Kattuvom Scheme of state government, for IGP purpose.
In Mallasamudram Union the members of the SHG - Roja got Rs. 50000 as direct loan for IGP purpose. Two pregnant mothers of SHG – Roja of Sappaiyapuram, Annai Theresa of Settichipalayam were guided to get Rs. 6000 each under Pregnant Women Welfare scheme. Two school dropout children were re-schooled and 3 street lights were got for the village by the efforts of the local SHGs. At the meeting of all the above CBOs, discussions were held on the planning of Micro Credit Programme of Salem Social Service Society. |

| 2.IDEA Programme: |

| This programme is being implemented in Omalur, Idappady and Namagiripet Unions with the assistance of Caritas India, New Delhi. |

| In Omalur Union the members of four SHGs namely Indian, Subash Chandra Bose, Ganga and Vidiyal were enabled to get Rs. 240000 as Revolving fund for taking up IGP purpose. In order to check female infanticide, a pregnant mother was registered with Village Health Nurse. Ten adolescent girls participated in the Health awareness training conducted by the VHN. Twelve persons participated in the Environmental Awareness training conducted by Mukkiya Sevika. In Namagiripet union, the members of the SHGs Samanthi, Thenral, Malligai and Thamarai were guided to get Rs. 240000 as Revolving fund for IGP purpose. Three pregnant mothers were enabled to get Rs. 6000 each under Pregnant mothers welfare scheme. A physically challenged person was guided to get a Tricycle. |

| 3. Magalir Thittam: |

| This programme is being implemented with the assistance of the State Government in Attur, Thalaivasal and Gangavalli unions in Salem District. Two new SHGs have been formed namely Thenilavu and Athi pookkal in Thalaivasal union. The members of Kurinji SHG have been guided to get Rs. 400000 for rearing Milch Animal. The SHGs Samanthi and Mullai have been rated for getting Revolving Fund. |

| In Salem Union, the members of 10 SHGs have been given A & R training with stipend. In Attur Union, 30 members of SHGs have under gone A & R training and 17 SHGs have been rated for getting Revolving Fund. |

| At Thandavarayapuram, the SHGs Annai Indira, Jayam and Vasantham were enabled to get Rs. 300000 each. The members of the afforesaid SHGs are running computer Centre, Fancy Store, Medical store and Xerox centre. |

| Seven SHGs were given A & R training in Gangavalli Union. At Valayamadevi, a new SHGs has been formed namely, Sakthi Vinayaka. |

| 4.Kolping Programme: |
| |
| The programme is supported by Kolping India, Chennai. Particulars are being collected to complete the Data Base of the Kolping Programme of Salem Diocese as per the guidance of National Director. Kolping SHGs at R C Reddiyur have been rated for getting bank loan. Arrangements are on to construct Kolping Complex at Alagapuram with the strenous efforts of the Director of Salem Social Service Society. |

| 5. Prison Ministry: |

| The Prison Ministry Salem unit is playing a vital role in Salem Central Prison. Once in a month, Holy mass is offered regularly inside the prison. With the concern and care, we have started the income generating programme like Tailoring, Wire Bag making, Cloth-flower making and regular classes on Spoken English. Value Based classes and Counseling is going on in Central Prison, Women Prison, Juvenile home and for the Prison Police Family members in the same quarters. The library has been opened inside the Prison for Prisoners. |
